It is anticipated that over 300 delegates will be in attendance at the APLA 2009 conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is the largest library conference east of Montreal and attracts librarians, administrators, library board members and support staff from all 4 Atlantic Provinces. This year’s conference is being held on June 10-13th, 2009 and it is anticipated that the time of year, as well as its location along the panoramic Halifax waterfront will draw record numbers.

The 2009 Conference Planning Committee is pleased to provide a number of different sponsorship opportunities at this year’s conference. Your sponsorship will be acknowledged by:

  • Sponsors who are also exhibitors will have first choice of the exhibit space, on a first confirmed/first served basis.
  • Link to company/organization web site via the online Sponsorship Directory (electronic logo file is required).
  • Signage displayed during event, acknowledging your sponsorship.
  • Acknowledgement in Sponsorship insert in conference program.
  • Free admission to conference program sessions.

Please complete the Sponsorship Contact Form and Debbie Costelo, APLA 2009 Sponsorship Convenor will email you an invoice.

Refreshment Breaks

There are 4 refreshment breaks scheduled throughout the conference. Three refreshment breaks are located in the Exhibits area and the final refreshment break is being held in the foyer. Morning breaks are more expensive as pastries will be served, in addition to beverages.

Luncheons

There are 2 luncheons scheduled throughout the conference. Both luncheons are located in the Exhibits area. One of these luncheons is restricted to the conference exhibitors as an optional contribution when they register their booth for the trade show (entitled Lunch with the Exhibitors). We are asking each exhibitor to contribute $200.00 for this event and hope for as much participation as possible.

Programs and Banquet

This year’s conference highlights a wide range of programs from social cataloguing to plain language writing, from the next generation of web technologies to literacy based storytimes. A donation to the APLA Awards banquet defrays some of the food/beverage costs for our delegates, as well as the possibility of serving wine during dinner.
